Weekend Refresher

This post is long overdue, but I will blame school for that. Last weekend I drove up to Pine Mountain, GA to stay with some of my best friends at Callaway Gardens. It was so refreshing to get away, take my mind off school and spend some time catching up with these friends.

I spent most about half my drive on backroads and highways. I'm not gonna lie, there was some pretty backwood-sy places I drove through, but it was fun to see some quaint little country towns and watch the country side go by.
The cutest little town in the middle of no where GA.

Finally I made it to Callaway where I met up with my favorite Stewart family! It had been FAR too long since I had gotten to see them last.

We spent Saturday at one of my favorite places, the GA Aquarium in Atlanta. This was my third time going, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't ever get tired of this place. Our conclusion was that the dolphins were the most fascinating, but I could spend hours watching the penguins, the otters, the belugas and of course whale sharks and mantas!

We had a fabulous time together. We spent our two evenings talking late into the night (according to Matthew, about nail polis and makeup), catching up, laughing and encouraging one another. It was much too short, but it was a much needed reunion! I am so thankful for a chance to see these sweet girls and the rest of their family.

Just as lotions and fragrance bring delight, a sweet friendship refreshes the soul.

Springtime Study Spot

After I enjoyed a delicious lunch outside with a friend at my favorite french cafe, Papillote, I had no desire  to go home and do homework. For whatever reason, before I left my house I grabbed the book I was planning on reading the rest of the afternoon for school. But I'm glad that I did. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Perfect for nothing less than being outside, sitting under a tree and reading. So that's what I did. I walked all the way from Broughton to Forsyth park, just to sit and read. But you know what, it made doing that reading that much better.

So here's to spending a spontaneous afternoon in the park and finding a springtime study spot!

Steady My Heart

from "change the world"

I know I've mentioned Kari Jobe in a recent post, but I absolutely love her new cd Where I find You. I just can't stop listening to it.

My favorite song on the album is called Steady my Heart. The lyrics are are simple, but in that simplicity they seem profoundly resonate with my heart.

Wish it could be easy
Why is life so messy
Why is pain a part of us
There are days I feel like nothing ever goes right
Sometimes it just hurts so much

But You're here, You're real!
I know I can trust You!!

Even when it hurts
Even when it's hard
Even when it all just falls apart
I will run to You
Cause I know that You are
Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
You steady my heart!

I'm not gonna worry
I know that You've got me
Right inside the palm of your hand
Each and every moment, what's good and what gets broken
Happens just the way that You plan

And I will run to You
And find refuge in Your arms
And I will sing to You
Cause of everything You are

Even though life is messy and hard, God promises peace. I can't worry about tomorrow because I know that God is sovereign and he's got me in the palm of his hand. "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS! I say to my self, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.'" (Lamentations 3:22-24)

I already know that this week is going to be incredibly busy and stressful. But God's got this, I trust that he'll steady my heart!

Hope you all have a lovely week and a Happy Monday!

Ah, Paris...

I finally went today to pick up my black and white film from the camera shop from my trip to Paris. I realized there is absolutely nothing like the anticipation and excitement of seeing how your pictures turn out! So I was inspired and nostalgic for Paris, I spent my afternoon listening to the soundtrack of Le Fabuleux destine d'Amelie Poulain and Edith Piaf and finally getting all my pictures sorted and uploaded from that trip. If you're interested check out the links below.

And while you do that make sure you listen to these, it'll make you feel like you're walking the streets of Paris:

Happy Friday!! :]
